Message from president,Iranian Urological Association

Esteemed Colleagues and Members of the Great Iranian Urological Community,
It is my distinct honour, on behalf of the Iranian Urological Association (IUA), to extend a warm welcome to you at the 29th Congress of the Iranian Urological Association, held this year jointly with the 17th Congress of the Iranian Endourology and Urolaparoscopy Society (IEUS) and the 16th Congress of Urological Nursing, in Tehran from 1 to 4 December 2026 (10–13 Azar 1405).
Each year, this Congress has been the largest and most spirited gathering of the country's urological community — a forum for the exchange of knowledge and clinical experience, and for strengthening the professional bonds among colleagues. This year, through its joint convening with the Iranian Endourology and Urolaparoscopy Society, we shall witness a richer and more comprehensive scientific programme across the various domains of urology, endourology, laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive surgery, alongside dedicated sessions for our nursing colleagues and special programmes for our esteemed urology residents.
I sincerely invite all urologists from every corner of the country — from our senior professors to our young residents — to join us through their active participation, the submission of scientific papers and the sharing of their clinical experience, so that we may stand together, as one great professional family, at this memorable event.
I also consider it my duty to inform our distinguished colleagues that the 30th Congress of the Iranian Urological Association will be held at its customary time, namely in Ordibehesht 1406 (April–May 2027). The delay of this year's Congress relative to its usual date was a direct consequence of the recent aggression of the United States and its allies against our beloved homeland — a period that put to the test the endurance, the courage and the solidarity of the Iranian people, and of the nation's medical community in particular. That this Congress is convened with undiminished scientific richness is itself a testament to that endurance. Our nation emerged from this great trial with its head held high, and showed that Iran shall ever remain steadfast and victorious.
I seize this opportunity to implore the Almighty, the Most Merciful, for enduring security, strength and victory for all the noble people of Iran, and to offer my deepest gratitude and profound respect to our colleagues — physicians, nurses and healthcare staff alike — who, throughout these arduous months, stood beside their patients with exemplary devotion and self-sacrifice.
I likewise extend my sincere thanks to the organising committees of the Iranian Urological Association, the Iranian Endourology and Urolaparoscopy Society and the Congress of Urological Nursing, and to Shahid Beheshti University, for their untiring efforts.
I extend my special thanks to our distinguished international speakers and guests, and most particularly to those esteemed colleagues who travel from abroad — and above all from our neighbouring countries and the wider region — to take part in this Congress. Your presence honours us, and it enriches both the scientific substance of this gathering and the bonds of friendship and collaboration between the urological communities of our nations.
I look forward with great anticipation to meeting all my dear colleagues in Tehran this December, that together we may celebrate our scientific achievements, strengthen still further our professional bonds, and shape a bright, tranquil and forward-looking horizon for Iranian urology and for our beloved homeland.
In closing, I wish to recall Hakim Abu'l-Qasem Ferdowsi, the great epic poet of Iran, who gave his life to immortalising the name, the culture and the grandeur of this land, and who declared:
It were a grievous pity that Iran should be laid waste,
and become the lair of leopards and of lions.
And so it shall not be — neither now, nor ever.
